Counselling Experience
I am a qualified counsellor. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My membership number is 572426. I work within the BACP's Ethical Code of Conduct.
I have a Masters degree in Counselling from University College Cork. As well as my private practice I have worked in the Criminal Justice Service for over 5 years as a probation officer. I have worked with refugees and asylum seekers. I have worked in a Barnardos school for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I work with clients who access counselling through their company's employee assistance programme, using Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
The kind of therapy that I practice is really dependent on the relationship that is created between myself and the other person. I believe how we feel currently is key. The past has gone and whilst we can learn to feel differently about events from our past we cannot change them and the future is yet to happen, so exploring what is happening now can be the most empowering.
